Over thirty Sprite Club member’s attended the Pie’n’Pea Night at the Fullarton Park Community Centre on Saturday 20th August.
Instead of using a member’s home for the event the organiser’s decided to use the Centre’s facilities and kitchen. This allowed plenty of space to prepare and serve the food, as well as space to catch up, talk and mingle with other Club members.
Starting with nibbles and Angela’s yummy home made mini quiches, the taste buds were soon activated. Don and Elaine Cardone were busy in the kitchen warming pies and stirring the home made pea soup.
After a quick welcome, the Club members lined up at the kitchen for a warming bowl of a Vili’s Pie topped with the pea soup. Don and Elaine were assisted by an assortment of kitchen staff including Carole, Jenny, Ray, plus a few others. Some member’s even lined up for seconds!!
With Gary Brock’s Alphabet Quiz and Phil and Maryanne’s Wine Raffle (which raised nearly $100 towards the night) there was enough to keep all busy. Thanks to all of you for these activities on the night!
Sweets was next on the agenda, and with plenty of cakes, tortes, and assorted tasty treats – there was plenty to go around.
The winners of Gary’s Alphabet Quiz were announced – there was a tie between two tables – and the drawing of the wine raffle concluded the night.
In usual Sprite Club style, all member’s helped clean up and pack up, so it was not a late night.
Our thanks to Don and Elaine for their organisation and catering of the night – and also special thanks to those who helped behind the scenes, with either providing food, serving or cleaning – this all helped to make this event a great night!
