Have just visited the Sprite Museum in Bairnsdale Victoria. Ray English created the Museum over many years. The Museum has over 20000 files consisting of Magazine cuttings, press releases and all manner of information on Sprites, but mostly Bugeye’s. In addition to that their are objects such as, model cars, badges, photos, unusual Sprite bits.
Ray also publishes a quarterly magazine known as ‘Marque One’, this is always great reading.
In the Museum each item that you look at comes with a story, which is usually more interesting than the object itself. Ray is only too pleased to relay these stories. In our case we were there 3 hours and could of stayed double that easily.
His shed along with Sprite room, (the Museum) are spotlessly clean and very tidy so it is a pleasure to see it all in it’s new address. In his shed, is his very early build Bugeye and more unusual parts and more great stories. We saw it many years ago, but now he has more room and the area has been purpose built for the Museum and the shed.
So if you are planning a trip to Victoria, I do strongly suggest you vist the Sprite Room. You should contact Ray and let know you are coming and arrange a time.
