Alan Symonds, Sprite Mk III Race Car, about 1986ish, Mallala Motorsport Park, Southern Hairpin.
Alan built the Sprite from various bits n pieces, Mk III shell, 1275cc engine, Piper Magnum Cam, Weber carby, fibreglass Bugeye bonnet (from the SA Sprite Club mould).
From the reports (or rumours) from this test day Alan found the beast a little scary.
Alan then sold the Sprite and I believe it went to Tasmania.
Scary was hardly the word…it scared the crap out of me! The engine was bored out to 1330cc, the head was worked and the cam came in at about 70mph and then it took off! You were right Gordon, I sold to a guy in Tasmania who proceeded to take out a quite expensive engine and fit a rice burner! Strange people these Tasmanians!
