If You Didn’t Get This Email (and about the AGM)

It seems that the club has been a victim of its own success. We’ve grown to approximately 180 members with voting rights! That’s a huge success for the club and it bodes well for the club as we look towards the future … but, it means that at an important meeting such as the Annual General Meeting we need to have a quorum of at least 20% as required by our Constitution.

Last night at the AGM we fell 4 members short of the minimum number required to vote on important matters, such as the election of a new Committee and setting next year’s fees (which we want to hold at $60 for another year).

As a result, the 2025 AGM has been deferred to the December Christmas meeting. This means that instead of the normally casual final meeting for the year, there will be some formalities around the night. Given that we normally have a great turn out as everyone wants their logbooks signed for the new year, I think we will have more than enough people to vote in the new Committee. And there will be a sausage sizzle to boot – like election day!

I was asked about proxy votes. Whilst we can, the Constitution update proved that proxy voting for a small club is challenging and cumbersome so we try to avoid it.

I realise that I haven’t perhaps pushed out a huge volume of emails reminding people that it was the AGM but it was in the events calendar. I’m cognisant that some of you may changed email addresses or you have been unsubscribed from receiving the emails by your anti virus/spam filters so if you may well have not seen the emails (or indeed this email) so if you read this on the webpage or Facebook please let me know and I’ll check that you are linked in the system. Similarly, if you know of someone who isn’t seeing emails, let me know. It could be a system error or you might have a new email address.

There will be more to follow about the Christmas breakup, but suffice to say, please put the AGM into your calendar and come along and vote in a new committee. Every position is open should you be able to help your club, including the role of President as I’m not re-standing this time around for the role.

You don’t have to drive a Sprite or Midget to be on the Committee! Remember, we are a volunteer organisation that allows many of you to drive your cars on Conditional registration, so please consider putting your name in the hat to help!

** Requested Update: Next meeting will be 1 Dec. The Xmas BBQ will be from 1800 onwards, with an opportunity to get log books signed up for next year – more to follow on all of that in a separate post. Nominally the AGM will be at or about 2000**
