The Marque Sports Car Association SA Super Sprint series headed to The Bend for Round Four. Having used the West Circuit last time, the MSCA has booked the East Circuit for this event. With 3.9km and 22 corners there were going to be a lot of track learning required for most drivers who had not driven on this circuit. As well as the bends there were a number of elevation changes that changed the balance of the vehicles during the lap.
A number of Sprite Club members enjoyed the circuit with most having a huge smile on their return from the circuit. There were small clouds of dust as some found the track limits, with most stating that you had to get Turn 1 correct to help set up Turns 2, 3 & 4. Then you headed to to the uphill Turn 8 into a tight right at 9, then downhill at 10. 11. 12…. So lots of “thinking about each series of corners” was important.
With a well built Race Control building with all amenities, a Barista serving hot coffee/tea and you could order a nice meal for lunch, the drivers were spoilt for their day at the track compared to Mallala.
There were some mechanical issues and the day ended unfortunately with a roll-over for a MG ZT and it’s junior driver. although shaken, bruised but unhurt, thanks to the Women for Wheels and Medical Team for their assistance.
All drivers agreed that it was a fantastic track with a number of challenges that most had not experienced before. They all stated they were looking forward to returning to the circuit at a future date.
