Annual Australia Day Thong Throwing Competition

Yes, its that time of the year again. Time to whip your thong(s) off and lob it at a bucket to net one of the most covenanted prizes, the Judy and John Bowering Memorial Thong Throwing Trophy! Without doubt one of the most sought after trophies of the Sprite Club of South Australia year.

Many have tried to take this home but each year there can be only one winner. The humble thong has some unique aerodynamic qualities that many have tried to master yet only a few have succeeded!

When: Sunday, 26 January, from 1200

Where: Des and Penny Chabrel’s, 2 Dorset Lane, Oakbank

BYO: Lunch, drink and a folding chair please

Des and Penny will provide coffee and tea as well as dessert following the cut and thrust of competition!\

For seasoned competitors, please note that there is a new rule for this year:

If the previous winner is also the current Club President, then that person, whom ever they may be, is specifically excluded from competition. He or she shall make a symbolic first throw to start the competition; however, should that person land the thong into the bucket on the first throw, the result is most definitely not counted.”

Grab your favourite thongs and get in some practice before you head up to Oakbank. This is one trophy you know you want to win. Then you too can place it in a place of honour in your home!

(That’s thongs as in flip-flops, double pluggers, open toed safety boots etc. This is isn’t a Tom Jones concert after all!)
