Vale – Tony Young

It is with sadness that I wish to inform the Sprite Club Members of the passing of Victorian Sprite Member Tony Young. Tony was aged 80 Years.

While Tony (and wife Nancy) were long term members of the Austin Healey Sprite Drivers Club (Victoria) they had a strong association and friendship with the Sprite Club of South Australia and its members.

Tony, Nancy and family were always present at the Annual Bordertown Motorkhana between the Victorian and South Australian Sprite Clubs, with Tony’s keen and clever driving of his Mk II Sprite often putting him towards the top of the competition, winning many trophies at this event over the years.

Tony and Nancy attended a number of Sprite Club of South Australia anniversaries and special events over the years including the various milestone years, as well as the Five Ferries Run in 2014.

They also formed many friendship’s with SA Members during the National Sprite Meetings and the Pre and Post-Touring Events.

Tony also served on the AHSDC Committee in various roles including President in 1980, 1999 and 2000. He was also awarded Sprite Champion in 1998 and Life Membership in 1988.

The members of the Sprite Club of South Australia would like to pass on our condolences to Nancy, and the children Bryce, Ranald, Warrick and Penelope during this time.
