Nineteen people, 11 cars, some Spridgets and a number of other classic vehicles left Hazelwood Park for Russell and Judy Schmarr’ s latest Mid-Week Meander. While the weather started ok, the clouds rolled in and rain threatened, and finally fell from the sky, so hoods were erected for the journey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heading up Greenhill Road towards Basket Range, Swamp Road and Fox Creek Road the Meander followed some of the traditional Hills routes. A loop around the Gorge Road soon had the Meanderers heading north, over Checker Hill and out towards Kersbrook for the refuelling stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After a morning tea, it was through Williamstown and on towards the the bushfire remains of Humbug Scrub and into the Barossa Valley. Menglers Hill and Barossa Valley Way ended the drivers and their passengers at the South Australian Company Store. This caf\u00e9\/restaurant is nestled between grape vines and rolling countryside, and provided a backdrop for the cars on the run. The food and service were outstanding, as as usual, no-one went away hungry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
